We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill this new 10 PA post within the Paediatric Neurology Department at the Leeds General Infirmary.

The department of paediatric neurosciences provides a comprehensive service to the children of West, East and North Yorkshire together with NE Lincolnshire, serving a population of 4 million. Inpatient services are based at the Leeds Children’s Hospital within a dedicated paediatric neurosciences unit, where children are jointly cared for by paediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons. Consultants provide outpatient clinics in Leeds and “outreach” clinics within all hospitals in the region as part of the Yorkshire Paediatric Neuroscience Network. Subspecialty clinics are provided in epilepsy including epilepsy surgery, neuro-oncology, neuro-rehabiliation, cerebrovascular disease, neuromuscular disease and management of motor disorders.

Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Applications are invited for the above post at the Children’s Hospital, John Radcliffe
Hospital, Headington, Oxford. This is a full-time consultant post to replace the current post-
holder who will be retiring in March 2017.
The new post-holder will join four existing full-time and one part-time consultant. The
service provides paediatric neurology to a population of c2.75 million and offers supra-
regional expertise in myasthenia, neuromyelitis optica, NF2, Tourette syndrome and
opsoclonus myoclonus syndrome.
There is close liaison with the four paediatric neurosurgeons on a shared paediatric
neuroscience ward within a dedicated Children’s Hospital, supported by excellent paediatric
neuroradiology and EEG (including video-telemetry) departments. The appointee will have
wide generic skills and any areas of specific interest and expertise will be welcomed and
supported. An interest in epilepsy would be particularly encouraged.
Any person who is unable for personal reasons to work the hours described will be eligible
to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content
will be discussed on a personal basis, in consultation with consultant colleagues.
