2018 Prizes

THE RONNIE MACKEITH PRIZE LECTURE

The 2018 Ronnie MacKeith Prize Lecture has been awarded to:

Dr Yael Hacohen, NIHR Clinical Lecturer University College London and Great Ormond Street Hospital

Her lecture will be on Wednesday, 3 January 2018 at 18.15: 'Antibody biomarkers of CNS neurological disorders in children'.

The Ronnie MacKeith Prize is awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to paediatric neurology as judged by published work and who are under the age of 40 years or within 5 years of obtaining CCT. The prize lecturer gives a 30-minute presentation at the BPNA conference and is awarded £500 plus full registration for the conference plus travel expenses and hotel accommodation.

BPNA Award for Fabulous Trainee Action - "BAFTA" 

The prize will be awarded at the annual conference dinner to the trainee who has best contributed to service improvement which significantly impacted on their local and/or national practice, or any other innovative contribution. Download the nomination form.

Best Poster Presentation by a Trainee Prize

This will be awarded to the trainee presenting the best poster at the BPNA 2018 conference. When you submit your abstract, please remember to tick 'I am a trainee' (FY1-ST8, fellows, etc). The prize, sponsored by the BPNA, will be full registration to the BPNA 2019 conference.

The BPNA 2017 Best Poster Prize was awarded to Dr Henriette Van Ruiten (Newcastle) for her presentation entitled: "Impact of three decades of improvement in standards of care for Duchenne muscular dystrophy"

Best Oral Presentation by a Trainee Prize

This will be awarded to the trainee presenting the best oral presentation at the BPNA 2018 conference. When submitting your abstract please remember to record you are a trainee (FY1-ST8, fellows) when enterting authors and affiliations. The prize, generously sponsored by MacKeith Press, will be full registration to the BPNA 2019 conference.

The BPNA 2017 Best Oral Presentation Prize was awarded to Dr Katharina Vezyroglou (Great Ormond Street Hospital, London) for the presentation entitled "Cannabidiol as add on therapy in children with complex epilepsy".

Best Medical Student Presentation

This will be awarded to the medical student with the best presentation, either poster or oral. When submitting your abstract please remember to record you are a medical student (undergraduate) when enterting authors and affiliations'.  The prize, sponsored by the BPNA, will be full registration to the BPNA 2019 conference.

The BPNA 2017 prize was awarded to Mr Vignesh Gopalan (UCL) for the presentation entitled "Course and outcome of post-neonatal presentations of vein of Galen malformation".
